Will Brexit happen?
Following the 2016 referendum, the UK officially began the process of leaving the European Union in March 2017. This was due to conclude with the UK leaving the EU on the 29th March 2019. This process has been extended and the current date for the UK’s withdrawal is the 31st October 2019. With the situation around Brexit unclear, ‘A to Brexit’ has been set up by the Road Haulage Association to provide guidance to the haulage industry and the businesses that rely on it.
Will a Brexit deal happen?
Parliament has twice voted against withdrawal agreements. The situation with future deals is unclear and likely to change over the coming weeks. ‘A to Brexit’ will reflect this. Our seminars, webinars and helpline are currently set up to help inform the industry on the effects of a no-deal Brexit. However, this advice will be reactive to political and legal developments.
When should I begin to prepare my company for Brexit?
Businesses, companies and others involved in international commercial transport should begin preparing for the possibility of a no-deal exit as soon as possible, as changes to the law may be implemented as soon as 31st October.
How will ‘A to Brexit’ help us prepare for Brexit?
We are working with leading transport lawyers, Backhouse Jones, to provide you with information and guidance on what the implications of Brexit may be on your logistics (regarding your operator licence) and customs procedures. This will be supplemented by expert industry advice from our team at the Road Haulage Association.
Can I ask the RHA a specific question?
Yes. We are operating both an industry helpline https://www.atobrexit.co.uk/ and an online service to allow you to submit a question to our experts.
I’m not a haulier. Can I still access help?
Yes. We have set up ‘A to Brexit’ to provide advice to haulier and to the businesses that rely on goods being moved between the UK and the EU. We encourage firms with concerns about how Brexit will affect their operations to register for our webinars, attend our seminars and contact our helpline. As well as the expertise we have at the Road Haulage Association, we have engaged Backhouse Jones, a leading transport law firm, to provide guidance on how Brexit will affect the supply chain of British businesses and the implications of Brexit for importers and exporters.
Will haulage through, but not to, the EU be affected?
Yes – the webinars and seminars https://www.atobrexit.co.uk/seminars/ address the necessary preparations for hauliers, operators and drivers transporting goods through the EU, as well as those transporting to the EU.
I am a driver. Which information is relevant to me?
Tick-boxes along the lower portion of each slide on the webinar and seminar PowerPoints indicate the demographic to which the discussed topic is most relevant. We encourage firms with concerns about how Brexit will affect their operations to register to attend our seminars for guidance.
Where can I find explanations for the abbreviations and acronyms used in the webinars and seminars?
